Sleep Apnoea, getting help.
Hi folks, hope you are all well, I have been absent for a few weeks, and I will tell you why. I have been going through some tests regarding my sleeping, and have now been diagnosed with “sleep apnoea” For those of you “like me” that had never heard of this before I was tested, its an illness that many people get especially middle-age folks like me lol. It is a disease that some people get with sleeping difficulties, surprisingly until now I never knew I stopped breathing during the night, only for a few seconds, but I was shocked to find out how regularly this happens.
When people snore, and we are all guilty of that lol, ask your partner the airways are blocked and not only your partner if you have one but also you are not getting a night of decent sleep, so you awake tired and have no energy. I was given some equipment by my local “sleep clinic” to record my sleep pattern this was when it was confirmed when the nurse got the recorded matter from the equipment.
I was diagnosed with moderate to serious sleep apnoea and was given a machine to monitor my sleep every night, it consists of a mask which covers your face and blows oxygen into your mouth when your breathing is at its lowest. It isn’t the most comfortable thing to wear but after 2 days of using the mask I feel much better, I am getting up earlier, and also I am not napping, my energy levels have increased tenfold. I now feel I am having a better quality of life, and I advise anyone goes through the same symptoms to visit your local GP or health nurse and have a chat with them, you do not have to suffer in silence, get checked out.
